Nar and Phu are the two Bhotia Villages of Mustang district maintaining their own unique culture and tradition. They are the authentic Tibetan Buddhist villages of Nepal located in the Nar Khola Valley of Magical Manang region. Trekking to Nar Phu Valley gives you the wonderful experience of the Himalayan views and distinct socio-cultural practices.

Nar Phu Manang trekking directs you through a popular off the beaten path track to the north of Manang. One of the highest passes of the trans-Himalayan region, Kang La Pass (5,306m) connects Nar Phu basin with three important Bhotia villages of the Neyshang Valley. While in this region, you can have the beautiful mountain panorama, ancient villages and high grazing land of the Himalayas. This valley is a significant juncture for trekking to other peaks such as Ratna Chuli, Kang Guru, Himlung and Gyajing Kang.

It takes you to the trans-Himalayan region for lifelong experience through adventurous trekking in Nepal. This is the hidden valley of Manang having yak herding and small scale farming as their main occupations. There are around 800 people in Nar and Phu villages speaking a Sino–Tibetan dialect variety called ‘Nar Phu’ or ‘Narpa’. Even the children of this region are taught with the education system through religious texts of Buddhism. Here, you can visit the historical Tashi Lhakhang Gompa and receive blessings from the local Lama Karma Sonam Rinpoche.

Although Nar Phu basin is located in Nepalese territory geographically, it is highly influenced by the cultural and dialect of Tibetan Plateau. The mani walls, chortens and gompas decorated with the prayer flags give you an evidence of unique Buddhist rites and rituals of the villages. You can get better knowledge of unspoiled natural heritage sites and cultural practices unaffected by the waves of modernity. From this unexplored valley of the Himalayas, you can have a close view of Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri Massif, Lamjung Himal, Machhpuchhre Himal and Mt. Manaslu (8,156m).

Opened in just 2003 AD for the international trekkers, Nar Phu Valley trek is a restricted area trekking in Nepal requiring a special permit. Camping trekking to Nar Phu region is much more interesting than teahouse trekking that you can enjoy the wilderness of this region without any disturbance. The diverse flora and fauna found in this region equally welcome you to visit their vicinity but without causing low or no negative impacts at all. Nowadays, you can do a complete teahouse trekking to this region due to the development of Himalayan tourism by the responsible authorities.

Popular Nar Phu Camping trekking begins from Beshisahar, which is the gateway to Annapurna region trekking. You begin this trek from Annapurna Circuit trekking region and end in the same region by exploring the less discovered valley and socio-cultural aspects. To give you a little more distinct experience of doing this best remote trek in Nepal, Orbit Alpine Adventure has designed a 17-day package. You can extend this itinerary by consulting with our agency to explore more natural and cultural wonders. You can add up other trekking destinations to the package like Muktinath Thorung La Pass trek, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek and many more.
